  2. The album was released on three LP records by Book-of-the Month Records as Duke Ellington at Fargo, The record sides were sequenced for use with a record changer (1/6, 2/5, 3/4). This version was also issued with different cover art as Duke Ellington at Fargo, Live by Jazz Heritage. Since the album was released in , it has been reissued in varying combinations with different Genre: Jazz, big band.

  3. Duke Ellington and his band alternate between up-tempo swingers like "Pussy Willow" and ballads, sometimes with swing-era singing like "There Shall Be No Night". The 2-CD set loads the first CD with good songs, both classics like "Caravan" and lesser-known songs like "Harlem Air Shaft". The sound is serviceable, for the most part/5(6).

  4. This concert would have been just another date during a typical Duke Ellington tour, except for several facts. One is that a good portion of this evening in Fargo, North Dakota was recorded by two young men (Jack Towers and Dick Burris) on a portable disc cutter with Ellington's permission, though there was obviously no intention of commercially releasing it/

  7. Recorded at the Crystal Ballroom (Fargo, North Dakota) November, 7, Album produced in mono to preserve the original fidelity of the recording. In some instances, particularly the first selection on side one ('The Mooche'), technical defects made at that date cannot be completely eliminated without diminishing parts of the music.
